Why You’ll Love It
Lula Cafe has been a leader in the farm-to-table restaurant community since it opened its doors in 1999. Now, over 20 years later and with two extra storefronts worth of space, Lula is a staple of the Logan Square culinary community. Their seasonal, ever-evolving menu has earned them features in multiple publications like the New York Times, Food and Wine, and Bon Appetit.
The chef and owner, Jason Hammel, has been nominated for multiple James Beard awards, with Lula Cafe earning the Best Hospitality award in 2024. Lula Cafe is always busy, with densely placed tables, a patio out front, and counter seating, which gives it a homey diner vibe.
Their casual brunch is a knockout, with a variety of sweet and savory favorites that'll satisfy visitors of every age and palette. Their dinner service, on the other hand, is a more formal affair, where Lula's self-taught chefs create more unexpected flavor profiles and artistic presentations.

Recently awarded "Best Hospitality" by the James Beard Awards, this places makes you wish you lived around the corner. Breakfast is a delightful highlight with some of the best pancakes you've had outside of your grandmother's. The dinner menu is small but mighty, just like the space and gracious staff.
